Transforming Health: A Four Part Series on Functional Medicine
Hampton Inn North-Duluth Mall, 1002 Mall Drive, Duluth, MN 55811
Presented by Scott Bergman, DC
Come to a single dinner session or all four for in-depth learning about Functional Systems!
Get great results with your practice. This seminar is designed to simplify and make Functional Medicine accessible to practitioners without requiring extensive time or resources. It highlights practical strategies for addressing common health concerns such as gut issues, mood disorders, and chronic pain.
Session 1:
Biotransformation & Detoxification
March 11, 2025 6:00 - 8:00pm
This session will cover the physiology of phase I, II, and III detox pathways, exploring both exogenous and endogenous toxicity and their impact on total toxic load. It will include the evaluation of genetic testing for detoxification function, the implementation of the functional medicine 5R program, and protocols aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Session 2:
GI Digestion, Absorption, and the Microbiome
March 13, 2025 6:00 - 8:00pm
This session focuses on digestive assimilation, the role of the microbiome, and how gut dysfunction affects overall health. It addresses inflammatory toxins contributing to leaky gut, evaluates genetic markers and gut function, and introduces the 5R program with nutrition and modified elimination diets.
Session 3:
Neuro-Behavioral Systems
March 13, 2025 6:00 - 8:00pm
This session explores neuro-behavioral conditions such as ADD/ADHD, mood disorders, and anxiety/depression. It highlights the link between undetected concussions or TBIs and mood disorders while addressing nutrient deficiencies and protocols to improve patient outcomes.
Session 4:
Hypothalamus–Pituitary Axis
November 4, 2025 6:00 - 8:00pm
This session explores insulin resistance and mitochondrial function in relation to HPA, HPT, and HPG dysfunction. It covers hormone dysregulation, highlights sleep's role in stress and these axes, and addresses nutrient deficiencies with protocols to improve outcomes.
